The Scoil.net ScoilPac website core is based on the award-winning CMS (Content Management System) Joomla. It enables you to update pages (and menus, features etc.) in a very simple efficient way. Most large organisations have now moved from traditional web design to 'content management' because of the ease of use and powerful features.

• Events / Calendar: Interactive calendar which can be filled once per month and provides details on school-related dates / events. Also an upcoming events list which is generated automatically from anything you enter into the calendar.

Instant Messenger:

Most pupils use IM outside of school and often have to 'power down' when engaged in school activities. With Instant Messenger, you can safely and securely restrict communication to your school - and in your website have a facility for:

• Contacting / sending a message to a teacher discreetly
• Enable quizzes between individuals, groups or classes
• Enable pupil to pupil communication from home for homework (Copies of all messages are automatically sent to the school to ensure responsible school-related use. Alternatively this can be switched on/off as required).

Pupil Work Security

The Scoil.net ScoilPac has a facility where you can 'attach' a document/file to a page which cannot be seen by outsiders (i.e. people outside the school with no login/password). This ensures security and discretion if a teacher wants to publish pupils' work on their class web pages.

Book Review & Comment System

Literacy is a core strand - and the ability to enable book (and other resource) reviews / feedback will be a well-used resource in many classrooms. Simply enter the ISBN, and details are displayed automatically from Amazon (image, title, description etc.). Pupils can then visited the page, and complete any assignment you choose (e.g. general review, character review, favourite them/character, etc)

Webpage - Add Comments

This facility might be used to create homework / an assignment with a difference! The teacher creates the page for her/his class - This might be:

• an assignment question (e.g. write about X Y or Z from our lesson today on A B or C)
